Seat Happens

Selling Services on Square

[ Portfolio ]

Seat Happens is an exciting new local business that cleans car seats and runs a unique pick-up and drop-off business model. They prioritize health, safety, and convenience for busy families with little ones who are still in car seats, strollers, and wagons!

This was a fun build. Seat Happens was actually so satisfied with the branding that they expanded the scope during the build and had us design business cards, thank you cards, and social media post templates for them as well!

The Strategy:

Since this was Seat Happen’s first website, we did everything from the ground up, designing their logo, favicon, typography, color palette, illustrations, imagery, and branding!

Once we had that locked in, we built a full website wireframe, wrote all of the copy, and created a conversion-based design strategy with them!

After having a meeting and confirming everything was golden, we moved on to build the homepage first. We then did one round of review and customer feedback, which led to the rest of the website being built, with an additional round of feedback!

During the custom website build, we created all of the photos and illustrations in use, as well as did full responsive optimization! At this stage, we also gain access to the Square account, build out all of their services, set prices, and create a checkout form collecting all relevant information!

Lastly, to help keep things in budget, Seat Happens decided to lean into social media marketing themselves and, for the time being, only moved forward with basic SEO optimizations, leaving the door open for upgrades down the road if they felt needed!

Task Highlight:

The X Factor task that we would like to highlight with this build was setting up their e-commerce services inside Square!

To do this, we had Seat Happens create their own Square account so that they had full control over everything e-commerce related.

From there, it was a fun challenge to learn their system, add the new services, set the pricing, and do a full integration into the website.

We ran into a snag, though, where Square doesn’t allow for detailed form submissions during the checkout process. It was important for Seat Happens to collect information regarding location and scheduling during the POS. Seat Happens also had a history of using Square with their other business, so they wanted to stick with the same platform!

After some tinkering, we were able to reskin parts of the checkout and repurpose some fields in the checkout process to turn them into a form that captured the needed information! We also ensured that customer contact information was captured (duh), so that if a customer ever accidentally filled out the form incorrectly or if there was ever a need to make some scheduling changes, there were easy options to reach out to them.

The Solutions:

We like to build more than just a website! We build tools that connect with your needs and help you achieve goals. With Seat Happens, there are a few notable examples of this:

  1. To be budget conservative, we started with basic SEO, which came in with an 85% score from Google Pagespeed Insights. To help with their focus on social media marketing, the scope was changed to create 5 social media templates for them to use and stay on brand. Lastly, to capitalize on this even more, we created a live Instagram embed on their homepage to help maximize their social media efforts.

  2. We created the Square services and integrated them into the website build. This way, users could book services on their own.

  3. To help with networking and to add a personal touch, we also created custom-branded business and thank you cards.

  4. To wrap things up, we built a contact form and routed it to their email address. This helps make it as easy as possible for customers to reach out with questions for any clarifications if needed!

The Results:

Sure, the website might look awesome on the front end, but what are the measurable results:

  1. We scanned the website with Google Pagespeed Insights and received the scores of 100% Performance, 91% Accessability, 100% Best Practices, and 85% SEO. – View Report

  2. After the build launched, we made sure the whole website was indexed by Google.

  3. With all of that being said, ultimately, a few months after launch, the owner got too busy and decided to pause the business for now to focus on her family. Obviously, it’s sad to hear when someone decides to close shop, but we admire and support her priortising whats important in life!
